Sharp Mountain Film Festival, located in Pottsville, PA, at the foot of Sharp Mountain, is dedicated to bringing independent film and filmmakers to Schuylkill County and North Eastern PA. Sharp Mountain Film Festival celebrates the initiative and commitment of independent filmmakers by providing a showcase for their work. We provide conversations between local residents and film industry professionals in an attempt to demystify the profession and share creative insights. In addition, Sharp Mountain Film Festival sponsors a "48 Hour" Film Competition as part of the Festival in an attempt to foster new and aspiring filmmakers. Our "48 Hour" Competition will also include a special High School category open to all registered high school students.
The Film Festival is presented in conjunction with The Block of Art; downtown Pottsville's annual arts celebration. This will be The Block of Art's fourth year celebrating visual and performing arts with multiple exhibit venues and performances April 23-25th. Sharp Mountain Film Festival is pleased to offer local and regional independent films as a complement to The Block of Art's vibrant arts programming.
